About the Journal

The Journal of Natural Resources and Farming (e-Issn 2810-7705) is an open access, multidisciplinary scientific journal dedicated to the promotion of basic and applied research in the biological, environmental, forestry, agricultural, and veterinary sciences, with a particular focus on the study and sustainable management of natural resources.

Our journal welcomes a wide range of research, including exploratory studies, trials, and reports, including negative results. We recognize the scientific rigor and valuable contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

We recognize that progress in the natural and applied sciences is enhanced by a diverse range of perspectives and approaches, including those that challenge, refute, or extend current knowledge.

Topics of interest:

• Biological Sciences: Research focused on the analysis of biodiversity, evolution, physiology and ecology. This category also includes the study of biological and ecological patterns that contribute to the conservation of ecosystems.
• Environmental Sciences: This section focuses on integrated studies on climate change, ecosystem services, and natural resources, with a particular emphasis on water resources. Additionally, it delves into the assessment of the environmental impact of intervention practices on ecosystems and their restoration.
• Agroforestry Sciences: Research on sustainable practices in agriculture, livestock, terrestrial and aquatic animal production and forest sciences, including advances in technologies that optimize the use of natural resources.
• Veterinary Sciences: Studies on animal health, production and welfare, particularly those that analyze human-animal interactions and animal husbandry practices in contexts that directly affect sustainability and environmental health. This section promotes the development of sustainable and ethical veterinary practices.
• Chemical Sciences: Research on the utilization of natural resources, especially in areas such as pharmaceutical chemistry, lignocellulosic materials, phytochemistry, characterization of natural metabolites and computational chemistry.
• Natural Resources Policy and Management: Critical analysis of public policies and strategies for regional territorial planning, including the formulation and development of environmental policies, and strategies for the sustainable management of natural resources.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.

1. Initial editorial screening. The editorial team verifies that the manuscript falls within the focus and scope of the journal and complies with the author guidelines, that the file has been properly anonymised, that the mandatory declarations are included, and that the text is original, using similarity-detection software. This stage may result in editorial rejection and is completed within approximately 15 working days.

2. Peer review. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assessed by a minimum of two specialists external to the publishing institution, selected for their expertise and with no conflict of interest with the authors. Reviewers have 30 days to submit their report, which addresses originality and contribution to the field, theoretical grounding, methodological rigour, analysis and results, conclusions, use of sources and clarity of presentation, and concludes with one of the following recommendations: accept, accept with minor revisions, resubmit with major revisions, or reject.

3. Conflicting reports. Where the reports diverge, the editorial office requests a third report from an additional reviewer.

4. Decision. The final decision rests with the editorial team and is communicated in writing together with the full reviewer reports. The estimated time from submission to first editorial decision is 90 days.

5. Appeals. Authors may appeal an editorial decision once, providing new arguments. Appeals are resolved by a person other than the one who took the original decision and are answered in writing with reasons.

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript, which may not be shared with third parties or uploaded to publicly available tools, and must declare any conflict of interest. The journal issues a certificate of participation to its reviewers.
